Art and beauty : a family affair

The love for art flows like an uninterrupted stream in the Guillon family. A long history that finds its roots in Neuilly-sur-Seine, where Charles Sedelmeyer born in 1837 in Vienna, father to Didier Guillon’s great-grandmother, was reputed to be one of the greatest collectors of the 19th Century. An exquisite taste for what is rare, beautiful and precious, which has been passed on from one generation to the next. It is since he was aged 12 that Didier Guillon, President and Artistic Director of the Valmont Group, strode along the exhibitions and the great classic museums such as the Prado in Madrid, the Tate Modern in London or the Moma in New York, hand in hand with his father. That’s how, from a very young age, Didier Guillon discovered art and its subtleties, and looked with different eyes at the works of the great Picasso, the iconic Velazquez, Goya and the Catalan painter Antoni Tapiès.

A great fan of modern and contemporary art, Didier Guillon considers art as a great source of inspiration to imagine the universe of Valmont cosmetics. Since art and beauty have in common a deep aesthetic notion, he combines the creation of beauty products with his personal artistic vision, according to a precise artistic line that results in a unique design and choice of colours.

It is this unquenchable passion that Mr Guillon honours with the creation of the Valmont Foundation.
